Boston Medical Center

One third of the world is infested with the bacteria Mycobacterium tuberculosis and only 10% of these individuals develop TB. There were 10.5 million cases of TB in 2015 of which 1.5 million people died. Poverty and TB are closely linked. People with weak immune systems are the most susceptible. It is much more prevalent in poor communities where people often live in crowded conditions. The foundation is proud to support Boston Medical Center with a $1.5 million multi-year grant to evaluate the impact of malnutrition and parasite infections on tuberculosis (TB).
