Exposing mouse models of Alzheimer’s Disease to sensory gamma stimulation (lights and sounds that flicker at 40 Hz) rescues both neural and cognitive functions, but few studies have examined how sensory gamma stimulation influences neural activity in humans. In this proposal, I will investigate whether and how short- and long-term gamma stimulations modulate neural activity and cognitive functions in normal aging adults using a combination of electroencephalogram (EEG), functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), virtual reality (VR) and computational modeling.
