Erin Duffy Lacy - WADS 2022

Erin Duffy Lacy, PhD

This proposal aims to characterize the function a newly discovered class of small proteins ≤100 amino acids in the human brain called microproteins. Many of these microproteins are newly evolved in humans and enriched in the brain, making them exciting candidates to explore new and potentially human-specific neurobiology. The proposed work will leverage high-throughput functional screens with biochemical and sequencing strategies to uncover the molecular mechanisms of these microproteins in human neurons.
