This project is aimed at increasing the number of Registered Nurses (Rns) prepared to enter the RI healthcare workforce annually. The program will also address retention challenges by strengthening the nursing pipeline at multiple levels including expanding the career pathways, focusing on barriers to entry, and upskilling current and returning nurses. The program will increase the capacity to train existing Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) to become RNs, provide remediation for students who require help passing the NCLEX exam, and develop a program to encourage RNs who have left the workforce to return.
