2024 – New York Genome Center

In the United States, around 20% of adults are affected by mental disorders, which often have a significant genetic component. The emerging field of Precision Psychiatry seeks to leverage this genetic insight to revolutionize mental health care.  The New York Genome Center (NYGC), in collaboration with Columbia University Irving Medical Center and other institutions, has initiated the Genomic Medicine for Mental Health Advancement (GeMMA) project. This initiate aims to enroll individuals within the New York State Office of Mental Health system to create a Precision Psychiatry platform that integrates clinical and genomic data to facilitate personalized treatment plans, monitor outcomes, and implement preventive interventions.
