This project will investigate a group of diseases in which the patients accumulate a specific fat corresponding to Very long-chain fatty acids (VLCFA), leading to inflammatory responses in the nervous system. Research in fruit flies with very similar lipid alterations allows the study of the basic mechanism that is affected by this excess in VLCFA and will lead to a better understanding of the pathways in these diseases and may alter treatments
