Mistakes like making a wrong turn are a part of our everyday lives. To achieve our goals, we need to detect our mistakes, correct for them, as well as learn from them to improve over time. By studying how the cell types of the mouse cerebral cortex signal different types of errors and corrections during navigation, this research aims to uncover the basic circuit elements and mechanisms that allow mammals to detect and correct mistakes as they strive to achieve their goals.
