Harvard Medical School

Funding will support The Massachusetts Consortium on Pathogen Readiness (MassCPR) which will be led by Harvard Medical School in conjunction with 17 biomedical partners. Since its formation in March 2020, MassCPR has assembled and mobilized 800 basic and translational scientists, clinicians, and public health professionals from germane disciplines including virology, immunology, microbiology, epidemiology, pathology, diagnostics and therapeutic development, computational biology, and clinical medicine. In addition to combating the massive health impacts of COVID-19, MassCPR aims to strengthen our nation’s preparedness for future health crises. Support from the Warren Alpert Foundation will be used to expand MassCPR’s biobanking activities, improve the functionality of its biospecimens database, and sustain its leadership infrastructure.
